About

Locally owned. Loudly proud.

Tipsy Taps & Grill is South Tempe’s neighborhood bar, leveled up. Built around a kitchen that earns the regular and a patio that already has a following.

The Story

A neighborhood spot, done right.

Tipsy Taps is the kind of bar that the neighborhood adopted. Burgers built from local Buckeye beef, drafts that lean Arizona, and a patio that fills up on a Tuesday because the regulars know each other.

The bar list is real. The kitchen is the same hot kitchen at noon and at close. The staff knows the order before the second visit. And the patio has earned a quiet reputation as the best golden hour in South Tempe.

We are not trying to be the loudest place in town. We are trying to be the place you keep coming back to.

The Owners

Run by people who live here.

Tipsy Taps is owned and run by Peter and Melissia Steen. Locally owned, locally focused, and run by people you will actually see in the building.

Peter & Melissia Steen

They are the ones building the menu, training the staff, and making the calls about which Arizona breweries get the next tap line. When something works, it is because they wanted it that way. When something needs to change, they are the ones who change it.

Pete and Melissia moved from Alaska to Arizona in 2024 with a dream: to open a small restaurant and bar that felt like home. The moment they stepped into this location, they knew it was the perfect spot.

Their goal is simple—to create a local hangout where good food, great people, and a relaxed atmosphere come together. Here, there’s no rush to leave; there’s plenty of space to unwind, share a meal, and feel like part of the family.

From the start, they envisioned doing things differently. They’re committed to their staff, offering fair pay, generous benefits, and the freedom to be creative. When the team is happy, it shows—because happy staff make happy customers. Over time, their team has grown into a family they genuinely enjoy working with every day.

Above all, customer service is at the heart of their approach. Pete and Melissia love welcoming regulars, chatting with guests, and sharing stories—making every visit feel personal and memorable.

What We’re About

The non-negotiables.

01

Real Food

Burgers from Buckeye beef. Wings that earn the second order. A kitchen that closes when the kitchen is ready, not on a stopwatch.

02

Real Drinks

A whiskey program that is actually a program. Arizona drafts on rotation. Cocktails built fresh, shaken hard, poured strong.

03

Real People

Staff that knows the regulars and welcomes the first-timers. Owners on the floor. The kind of place where the bartender remembers your order.

04

Real Patio

String lights, fire tables, garage doors thrown open. The signature space, open every day, and the reason the regulars stop by on a Tuesday.

Some bars you go to. This is one you actually stay at.
That’s Tipsy.

Pull up a stool. We’ve got you.

The patio is open. The kitchen is hot. The regulars are already here. Come find out what the neighborhood already knows.
